Description: 

Alternate, dark green, glossy leaves, new growth lighter. Flowers in panicles, hanging, white, in spring.

History: 

Published in Bot. Beechey Voy. 189 t.39 in 1833.

Native to China, India, Laos and Vietnam.

My Experience: 

I purchased a 1-gallon plant at Nurseries Caroliniana in March 2012 and planted it in the Almost Shade Garden. It struggled and finally gave up in winter 2014.
