Description: 

From Bot. Repos. Ixia with scimitar-shaped limber leaves ; flowers grow alternate and close to the stem; the three outer petals are gouty and spotted at the base.

History: 

Published in Bot. Repos. 2: 134 in 1801.

Introduced in 1774 by F. Masson from the Cape of Good Hope.

Andrews identifies it as the plant known in South Africa as Ixia deusta.

Now considered a synonym of Tritonia deusta (Aiton) Ker Gawl - referenced in the description of Tritonia deusta by Ker Gawl.
