Ixia with scimitar-shaped limber leaves ; flowers grow alternate and close to the stem; the three outer petals are gouty and spotted at the base.

Introduced in 1774 by F. Masson from the Cape of Good Hope.
Andrews identifies it as the plant known in South Africa as Ixia deusta.
Now considered a synonym of Tritonia deusta (Aiton) Ker Gawl - referenced in the description of Tritonia deusta by Ker Gawl.
