Description: 

Fragrant white flowers from spring to autumn. Often sold as a houseplant.

From Bot. Reg. No plant presents itself more constantly in our greenhouses than this. The bright lively hue of its evergreen foliage, the fragrance and long succession of the bloom, render it a favourite with all gardeners.

History: 

Native to Madeira.

Published in Sp. Pl. 1: 7 in 1753.

Also published in Bot. Reg. 1: 89 in 1815.

From Bot. Reg. Grows naturally in the island of Madeira, and has been known in the dutch gardens according to Commelin from 1693, in the english from about 1724.
