Description: 

Linear foliage. Red flowers changing to buff, blooms in late winter. Creeping rootstock - spreads by runners.

From Bot. Repos. (Aletris sarmentosa) ...from being planted in a light, rich foil, it may be made to grow to the height of three feet; with a spike of flowers, one fourth the length of the flower-stem.
