The generic name he (Thunberg) gives in honour of Picot, then Baron de la Peyrouse, since Inspector of the Mines of the French Republic and Associate of the National Institute, well known by his works on the Natural History of the Pyrenees; -not to be confounded with the celebrated but ill-fated navigator, known by the title of Compte de la Peyrouse.
