Description: 

Deciduous conifer. Pyramidal habit with horizontal branches and weeping branchlets. Leaves to 1.25" long, bright green. Cones oval, to 1", green to purple-brown.

History: 

Native to northern North America, south to Pennsylvania.

Introduced in 1737.

Published in Dendrologie 2(2): 263 in 1873.

Basionym Pinus laricina Du Roi.
