Description: 

Yellow flowers, spotted with red in late spring to early summer. As many as 20 flowers on a stem, to 3" in diameter. Moist, well-drained soil that does not dry out. Armitage considers it difficult to grow: one of the most beautiful lilies in existence, and also one of the most frustrating.

History: 

Native from Canada to the US, south to Georgia in moist areas on the edge of woodlands or streams.
