Description: 

Short trunk and drooping branches with a rounded spreading crown. Alternate compound leaves to 10" long with 5 leaflets usually. Yellow to orange fruit in clusters. Sap causes skin irritation.

History: 

Published in Bot. Jahrb. Syst. 21(5): 612 in 1896.

Basionym is Amyris toxifera L. published in Syst. Nat., ed. 10 2: 1000 in 1759. Lectotype = "Toxicodendron foliis alatis fructu purpureo Pyri formi sparso" in Catesby's Natural History Volume 1 Plate 40.

Native to Florida and the Caribbean.
