Description: 

Thick corky trunk, branching about 18" above the ground. Leaves green, overlapping, oval. Flowerheads to 3" long, white.

Published in Cult. Prot. 65 in 1809. ...found by Mr. J. Niven...

Native to South Africa.

Synonyms: Mimetes hartogii R.Br. and Mimetes cucullatus var. hartogii (R.Br.) E.Phillips, Protea cucullata Lam. (ProteaWorldOnline) - in Trans. Linn. Soc. London 10: 108 in 1810, R.Br. cites P. cucullata Beta Lam. as a synonym of Mimetes hartogii R.Br.
