Description: 

Densely branched with rounded habit. Glossy grey-green leaves, to 4" long, fragrant if crushed. Tends to sucker. Tolerates poor soils.

History: 

Native to the mid to northeast USA + east Canada.

Introduced to cultivation in 1727.

Published in Synthesis N. Amer. Fl., version 1 (Nomencl. Innov.) 18 in 1999.

ARS-GRIN shows it as the accepted name with the basionym Myrica pensylvanica Mirb. in Duhamel. PlantList shows the name as unresolved.
