Description: 

Large flat leaves, glossy and smooth with pointed tips. Moist well-drained soil.

History: 

Published in Revis. Gen. Pl. 2: 798 in 1891.

Basionym Myrica nagi Thunb.

Native to China, Japan and Taiwan.

My Experience: 

I purchased a 2 quart plant from Nurseries Caroliniana in March 2012. The plants were seedlings from a specimen at the Atlanta Botanical Garden. Pollen source unknown. I potted it up to a 2 gallon pot and will overwinter it inside.
