Description: 

Summer dormant. Erect leafless stems with a terminal umbel of funnel-shaped, orange to red flowers in autumn. Linear foliage following bloom.

History: 

Published in Bot. Mag. 47: 2124 in 1820 (but not the named subject of the plate).

Basionym Amaryllis sarniensis L. also published in Bot. Mag. 9: 294 in 1795 and Pl. Rar. Hort. Schoenbr. 1: 34 t. 66 in 1797.

Synonyms: Amaryllis fothergillia Andrews published in Bot. Rep. 3: 163 in 1801, Amaryllis curvifolia Jacq. published in Pl. Rar. Hort. Schoenbr. 1: 33 t. 64 in 1797, Nerine rosea Herb. published in Bot. Mag. 47: 2124 in 1820.
