Description: 

Clump forming beach grass that grows in dry sand. Blooms in late summer to autumn. Does not do well in clay soils.

Cultivars: 

'Dewey Blue' - from Rich Darke, graceful habit, glaucous blue foliage, blue tinge to the flowers at first, fading to tan. 2 to 3' tall.

History: 

Published in Sketch Bot. S. Carolina (Elliott) 1: 121 in 1816.

Native to the eastern US, Mexico, Belize, Honduras, Bahamas and Cuba.
