Description: 

Clumping form. Dark red leaves and pink flowers in late spring to summer. Dry to medium soils. Deer tolerant. Not wet or poorly drained soils.

History: 

Developed by Dale Lindgren at the University of Nebraska.

Penstemon digitalis 'Husker Red' x Penstemon 'Prairie Splendor' (Penstemon cobaea × Penstemon triflorus).

Patent application filed in 2007.

My Experience: 

I purchased a 4" pot at Santa Rosa in June 2013 and planted it in the Octagonal Perennial Garden. It was being chewed by rabbits so I moved it to the Pool Lawn Border.
