Description: 

Compact narrow pyramid with branches at ground level. Leaves to 0.5" long with 4 sides. Cones to 4" long, purple when young. Exfoliating bark. Requires protection from wind.

History: 

Native to northern Turkey and the Caucasus. Introduced in 1839 to Great Britain.
