History: 

Published in Hort. Kew. 3: 371 in 1789. Also published in Desc. Pinus 1: t.26 p.39 #20 in 1803 (and in ed.3 #32 in 1832) It is found in America from the forty-third degree of north latitude northward, but farther southward it disappears, requiring a very cold climate.

Synonym of Picea glauca (Moench) Voss.
