Description: 

Dense columnar habit. Leaves in 5s, 2 to 3" long, dark green with bluish white innersides. Cones green-blue, 3" long, never opening.

P. Cembra is one of the handsomest trees of the whole genus, but of the slowest growth, as may be seen from those at Mill Hill, the two largest of which are seventy years of age, and the smallest about fifty... (Desc. Pinus)

History: 

Native to the mountains of central Europe and southern Asia. Cultivated since 1746.
