Family: Pinaceae

Genus: Pinus

History:

Published 1803 in Desc. Pinus 1: t.33 p.51 #27 in 1803 (and in ed.3 #43 in 1832) The figure was taken from a specimen in the Banksian herbarium, brought home by Mr. Menzies, by whom it was discovered on the North-west coast of America...

Based on the Menzies specimen at the Natural History Museum in London. The name is illegitimate because it was a later homonym which had been used by Salisbury in 1796 for a different conifer.

Synonym of Pseudotsuga menziesii (Mirb.) Franco.
