The figure was taken from a specimen in the Banksian herbarium, brought home by Mr. Menzies, by whom it was discovered on the North-west coast of America...
Based on the Menzies specimen at the Natural History Museum in London. The name is illegitimate because it was a later homonym which had been used by Salisbury in 1796 for a different conifer.
Synonym of Pseudotsuga menziesii (Mirb.) Franco.
