Description: 

Pyramidal form. Grey-green needles to 8" long in fascicles of 5. Slender cones on short stalks, light brown. Likes moist, well-drained soil, acidic, protected from winter winds.

Cultivars: 

'Nana' - slow growing to 3.5' tall and slightly less wide in 10 years - broad upright form.

History: 

Named for Nathanial Wallich, 1786-1854, Danish botanist and superintendent of the Calcutta Botanical Garden.

Published in Bull. Misc. Inform. Kew 85 in 1938.

Native to Afghanistan, China, India, Bhutan, Nepal, Pakistan and Myanmar.
