Description: 

Erect plant. Linear foliage, red bracts.

...has considerable affinity with canaliculata: but differs in having broader flat leaves, not hollowed on the upper surface, where they are slightly veined; bractes more obtuse, hollowed at the extremity, and bordered with a black pubescence. Stem upright: branches weak, twiggy, of a bright red colour on the side exposed to the light, and more thinly clothed with leaves than in canaliculata. Flowers always terminal. (Bot. Mag.)
