Description: 

Slightly spicy fragrance. Blooms at the beginning of summer. White, sticky flowers. Leaves alternate, lustrous. Habit loose, open and spreading. Moist to damp soil.

History: 

Native from Florida to Maine.

Introduced to cultivation in 1734.

RHS Award of Garden Merit in 2002. Award of Merit in 1921.

Published in Fl. N. Middle United States 1(2): 424 in 1824.
