Description: 

Yellow flowers with black centers, usually in the summer of the second year. Narrow leaves. Will tolerate less than well-drained soil, but prefers sandy soil.

Cultivars: 

'Indian Summer' - Georgia Gold Medal Plant 2011 - blooms to 8" across, golden yellow petals around a brown center cone, to 36" tall.

History: 

Published in Sp. Pl. 2: 907 in 1753.
