Description: 

Square stems (as with all Salvia) with opposite branches. Strong salvia smell. Moderate water. Blue to purple flowers in summer to autumn.

Cultivars: 

'Purple Splendour' - dark purple flowers.

History: 

Native to Brazil, Paraguay and northern Argentina.

Published in Labiat. Gen. Spec. 298 in 1833.

Named the 1995 Georgia Gold Medal Perennial.
