Clumping perennial. Blue flowers on spikes in spring to summer. Prefers moist, well-drained soil.
Sometimes sold under S. nemorosa or S. x superba.
I purchased a 4" pot from Home Depot in April 2010 and planted it in the Blue Bird Perennials garden. In spring 2011 it started blooming at the end of April. It has been a consistent early bloomer and has performed reasonably well. It was drowned in the wet summer in 2013 and in September of that year I moved it to the Octagonal Perennial Garden.
