Annual herb. Alternate leaves, pinnately compound, 3 pairs leaflets. Poisonous seeds. Stems light green. Yellow flowers. Weed.


Published in Mem. New York Bot. Gard. 35: 252 in 1982.

Basionym: Cassia obtusifolia L.

Native to tropical and warm-temperate areas.


My Experience: 

Several of these plants started as weeds in the garden in summer 2011. They quickly grew to 30" tall and wide and were quite decorative. I pulled them out before going to seed and found that the roots were strong but shallow and horizontal.
