Confounded with the following in our collections (S. millefolia), but a legitimate species, and distinguished as such by Mr. J. Niven, who found it near Paarl.
Synonym Protea abrotanifolia var. hirta Andrews, Protea obovata Andrews ex Meisn. In Trans. Linn. Soc. London 10: 221 in 1810 R.Br. wrote (referring to P. abrotanifolia var. hirta)
...manifestly Serruriae, but I do not venture to refer them to any of the species I have described; nor are there sufficient materials from which they may be characterized as distinct species.
PlantList shows it as unresolved. However documentation from ProteaWorldOnline suggests it could be a synonym of Serruria millefolia Salisb. ex Knight.
