Dense, compact mound. Small rounded leaves, sharply toothed, good fall color. White flowers in spring in flattened clusters. Flowers on new wood so prune in late winter to early spring. Deer resistant. Dirr says does not do well above zone 7.
Dirr lists it as a cultivar of Spiraea betulifolia var. aemiliana.
I purchased a 1-gallon plant from Nurseries Caroliniana in November 2011 and planted it in the 'Big Trees and Birds' garden.
