Blooms from spring and intermittently through summer. Purple-blue flowers. Divide every three to four years. Prefers moist soil but drought tolerant once established. Deer resistant. Needs dry soil in winter.

Native to the southeastern US from Florida to North Carolina, Louisiana and Mississippi.
The various cultivars that I have planted have reseeded and all produce blue flowers. I planted two of these seedlings in the Ornamental Grasses Border in autumn 2014.
