A dwarf, listed as growing anywhere from 4 to 10' tall but my own tree is over 10' after only a few years, and a local nursery has several ranging from 8 to 15' tall. The nursery trees are in part shade and are more open in form than mine which is in full sun. Tight pyramidal form, Dirr describes it as having a "surreal pygmy-forest effect'.
A selection from the Netherlands.
I purchased a large 3-gallon in summer 2007 from McMahan's and grew it in a pot until summer 2009. It was 4' tall when purchased and gained probably 6 to 8" each year in the pot. Once planted it has grown dramatically, staying very upright with all the branches turning up and being very tight to the trunk. Almost a contorted form but no twist. Very dramatic. By the end of summer 2011 it was about 12' tall.
