Description: 

Prefers moist, well-drained soil. Not well adapted to the heat of the South.

Leaves bright, glossy green above, carried in large drooping sprays.

Cultivars: 

'Aurea' - medium sized treee, conical habit, deep golden-yellow foliage.

History: 

Native to Alaska, western Canada and western US. Published in Descr. Pinus v.2 p.19 in 1824 and in ed.3 #61 in 1832.

Synonym Thuja gigantea Nutt.
